Establishment of the Law Firm and the RBBC Brand

The firm was founded by a brother-and-sister team of lawyers in response to the entry into force in 2016 of the most significant amendment to restructuring law and bankruptcy law since the political transformation of the Republic of Poland.

This amendment, together with its subsequent modifications, significantly influenced the economic and business landscape of the country. It introduced a number of new legal institutions and proceedings which continue to enable effective debt relief and recovery from financial difficulties, including: four types of restructuring proceedings, pre‑packaged liquidation of an enterprise (pre‑pack), consumer bankruptcy, consumer arrangement, and many other restructuring and insolvency solutions.

In the same year, on 28 November, Jagoda Wojciechowska, President of the Management Board and co‑founder of RBBC, obtained restructuring advisor licence No. 1078.

Organisational Development

The first two years of activity marked a period of intensive development and preparation of the firm’s technical and organisational infrastructure.

During this time, the firm’s website was created, and most importantly, an internal IT-based organisational system supporting the operation of the firm was developed. With full commitment and particular attention to detail, we worked on building systems and visual communication standards designed to meet the highest requirements of insolvency proceedings and the expectations of our clients.

We were fully aware that insolvency proceedings constitute the core of legally and economically interconnected activities that must remain fully transparent — both for the debtor and, above all, for creditors, courts and institutions which frequently themselves act as creditors.

High organisational and legal requirements motivated us to create a law firm open to innovation and the development of advanced IT standards, whose evolution in subsequent years was further accelerated by artificial intelligence.

First Court Appointments and International Clients

During 2019, the firm continued to develop its activity, shaping its professional profile and strengthening its position on the Polish market.

The year 2019 proved to be a breakthrough in terms of both court-appointed functions and international activity. Acting as a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee within bankruptcy proceedings, the firm began cooperation with its first court in Poland.

At the same time, the firm’s first international clients appeared, including a client from the United States.

These developments created the need to establish the first boutique office in Warsaw, primarily for the purpose of conducting meetings with international clients.

RBBC Registered as a Trademark. Pandemic – Simplified Restructuring Proceedings. New Restructuring Advisor

The year 2020 marked an important stage in the development of the RBBC law firm.

The Patent Office of the Republic of Poland granted legal protection to the word-and-device trademark RBBC Restructuring & Bankruptcy Business Center, confirming the formal protection of the brand and its identity.

At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected the economic environment and the situation of entrepreneurs. In response, simplified restructuring proceedings were introduced, which substantially increased the number of restructuring matters conducted by the firm.

On 1 October 2020, a co-founder, partner and member of the Management Board of RBBC obtained Restructuring Advisor licence No. 1471.

New Headquarters at Grudziądzka Street 74–76

The year 2022 marked another stage of dynamic development of the firm.

Together with the expansion of the team, we relocated our headquarters to a modern office building located at a strategic point in Toruń — at the intersection of Grudziądzka Street and Kościuszki Street.

The central office of Centrum Restrukturyzacji i Upadłości Sp. z o.o. operates from this location, which constitutes the main organisational and analytical base supporting the boutique offices operated by the firm and all restructuring and insolvency proceedings conducted by RBBC.

This is where our team of lawyers, analysts and specialists supporting restructuring and bankruptcy proceedings in other cities carry out their work.

Organisational development also enabled us to establish specialised internal structures — separate restructuring and bankruptcy departments.

At the same time, this period was characterised by intensive professional development of the team in preparation for new economic and legal challenges in the post-pandemic environment.

The case had an international dimension and a high level of complexity, involving creditors operating in multiple jurisdictions, including jurisdictions outside Europe.

In the same year, the President of the Management Board obtained the status of qualified restructuring advisor, authorising her to conduct the most complex restructuring proceedings, including matters of significant economic scale and high complexity.

Opening of a Boutique Office in Płock

The year 2024 brought further development of the firm’s structure through the opening of another boutique office — this time in Płock.

The new location, situated at Bielska Street 1, office 210, constitutes part of the consistently implemented strategy of building a network of specialised offices operating in north‑central Poland.

The opening of the office in Płock coincided with the commencement of cooperation with the court in Płock in the field of insolvency proceedings.

The central operational hub of the firm remains located in Toruń, where the main analytical, organisational and operational base supporting all conducted proceedings continues to function.

The boutique offices serve as specialised client contact points and regional centres for the conduct of proceedings.

10th Anniversary of the Firm

The year 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the activity and development of the RBBC law firm.

During this period, the team conducted more than 500 bankruptcy proceedings and approximately 50 restructuring proceedings, including numerous matters of an international character (cross‑border proceedings).

The firm also initiated the modernisation of its communication strategy and corporate identity, including the launch of a new website and the development of a dedicated section for the sale of assets in insolvency proceedings in order to increase transparency of the process and facilitate access to offers for potential purchasers.

On the occasion of this anniversary, we would like to thank our clients, business partners and colleagues for their trust and for jointly building the history of our firm.
